Pierre Charles L'Enfant

Born August 9, 1754 Initiated April 17, 1825 Raised Died June 14, 1825 Pierre Charles L'Enfant was born on August 9, 1754 in France. L'Enfant was educated at the Royal Academy in the Louvre, and built a solid reputation a civil engineer and architect. At the age of 23, L'Enfant joined the American Revolutionary War and served with Major General Lafayette in the Continental Army as a military engineer. After the war, L'Enfant built a successful civil engineering firm in New York City. L'Enfant is best known for engineering the original layout of of Washington, D.C. under the appointment of President George Washington. Pierre L'Enfant was was Initiated on April 17, 1825 at Holland Lodge No. 8 in New York. Brother L'Enfant was called from labor on June 14, 1825.
