George the 6th, King of England was born in 1895 and became king when his brother edward abdicated and married misses wallace simpson. He was initiated in naval lodge number 2612. he was appointed senior grand warden, grand lodge of england and later provincial grand master of middlesex in 1924. In 1936 he was installed grand master mason in scotland and when he became king in 1938 he accepted the rank of past grand master, grand lodge of england. He was heavily involved in masonry all his adult life and believed freemasonry could make an important contribution to the moral and spiritual needs of the world. When cancer stole his life in 1951 it was a great loss to the craft.
