The Reverend John Desaguliers was born in 1683. He was the third grand master of England. He took his religious orders at Oxford. He was an experimental philosopher and he prophesied the splitting of the atom two hundreds years before it actually happened. In 1714 he was elected fellow of the royal society and eventually became its curator. We dont know much about his masonic activities but he did become grand master. Subsequently, the deputy grand master in 1722, 1723 and 1725. He wrote the preface to Andersons book of constitutions. In 1721 he visited the lodge of Edinburgh. They were impressed with his all around understanding of masonry and readily accepted him. He is thought to have had a great influence on scottish speculative freemasonry. Desaguliers was influential in initiating the first royal freemasons. he dies in 1744.
