Paul Revere was born in Boston on December 21, 1734. He was initiated into St. Andrew's Lodge on September 4, 1760, and became a Royal Arch Mason and Knight Templar on December 11, 1769. Revere was prominent silversmith and a patriot in the American Revolution, where he helped devise an intelligence system to keep watch for British troops. Revere along with about thirty others, formed a committee purposed to keep watch for the british soldiers in an attempt to gain intelligence. He and the others would spend nights taking turns patrolling the streets, and held meetings at the Green Dragon Tavern to discuss tactics and share intelligence. Brother Revere was called to labor on May 10, 1818, at the age of 83.
