David Crockett

 Born August 17, 1786 Initiated Raised Died March 6, 1836 David "Davy" Crockett was born on August 17, 1786 in Greene County Tennessee. A legend in his own rite, Crockett is well regarded as the quintessential outdoorsman. Learning to hunt and trap with his brothers at an early age, he traveled the Tennessee back country and towns refining his skill. In 1826, Crockett was elected to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives where he advocated the land rights of settlers and spoke out against President Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act. Crocket became a Freemason during his tenure in politics. Proof of this exists only because he entrusted his Masonic Apron, which was made for him by Mrs. W. C. Massey while in office, to the Sheriff of Weakly County. The Weakly Lodge of which Crockett is said to be a member burned during the Civil War which destroyed all of it's contents and records. However, the Apron remains unharmed today, it having been inherited and preserved by the Sheriff's nephew. In 1836 Crockett and his posse relocated to Texas during the revolution and soon took up fight at the Alamo. There he and his crew among many others, fought against the Mexican Army. Although the exact curcumstances of Crockett's death are unclear, it is known among scholars that Brother David Crockett was called from labor on the morning of March 6, 1836 at the age of 49.
