William Byron

William Byron was born on November 5, 1722. Byron was a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy and Master of the Royal Staghounds. From 1741 to 1752, Lord Byron served at the Grand Master of the Premier Grand Lodge of Freemasons. William Preston is known to have said that during Byron's five years as Grand Master, no diligence was spared by him to preserve the privileges of Masonry and relieve it's distresses. Brother William Byron was called from labor on May 19, 1798.
