John Brown

 Born May 9th 1800 Initiated Raised May 11, 1824 Died May 9th 1800 John Brown was born on May 9th 1800 in Torrington Connecticut. Brown is best known as an American abolitionist. In 1859, Brown lead a raid on the federal armory at Harpers Ferry. The raid ended in his capture, trial, and hanging, but it sparked a liberation movement among enslaved Americans. Brown's influence and legacy would run deep and wide within American civil rights movements. Said best by David S. Reynolds, Brown is hailed as the man who "killed slavery, sparked the Civil War, and seeded civil rights." The popular Union marching song "John Brown's Body" further cemented Brown's legacy as an martyr and American hero. John Brown was made a Master Mason on May 11, 1824 at Hudson Lodge No. 68 in Hudson Ohio. Brother Brown was called from labor on December 2, 1859 and is said to have been buried with Masonic Honors.
