Robert William Service was born on January 16, 1874 in Preston, Lancashire, England. Service relocated to Canada in 1894 and later became author and correspondent for the Toronto Star. This internationally renown author is best known for his poems entitled "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" and "The Call of the Wild". Robert W. Service was Initiated on June 13, 1912 at Yukon Lodge No. 45, in Dawson City, Canada. Brother Service was called from labor on September 11, 1958.
