Hecart, Gabriel Antoine Joseph
A French Masonic writer, who was born at Valenciennes in 1755, and died in 1838. He made a curious collection of Degrees; and invented a system of five, namely: 1. Knight of the Prussian Eagle; 2. Knight of the Comet; 3. The Scottish Purifier; 4. Victorious Knight; 5. Scottish Trinitarian, or Grand Master Commander of the Temple. This cannot be called a Rite, because it was never accepted and practised by any Masonic authority. It is known in nomenclatures as Ncart's System. He was the author of many dissertations and didactic essays on Masonic subjects. He at one time proposed to publish his collection of Degrees with a full explanation of each, but did not carry his design into execution. Many of them are cited in this work.
