Christopher Wren was born in 1632. In 1657 He become professor of astronomy and mathematics. After the great fire of london in 1666 he designed and restored many of the old churches which suffered in the fire. His most famous work being the design and construction of the magnificent St. Pauls cathedral which was finished in 1708 and officially declared completed in 1711. While he played an important role in operative masonry, It is significant that Gould devoted 54 pages of his history declaring Wren could not have been a freemason. Others believe Wren was a member of the craft. Scholars are divided on this point and his membership remains unclear even today. Wren died in 1723.
