Wolfgang Mozart

Born January 27, 1756 Initiated December 14, 1784 Raised Died December 5, 1791 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Gerany. On January 27, 1756 he was baptized as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. By the age of five, he was already composing, was competent on keyboard and violin, and performing before European Royalty. Mozart composed more than 600 works over his lifetime, many of which are considered as the pinnacle of chamber, operatic, choral, and symphonic music. He is among the most highly regarded classical composers in all of history, and his impact on Western music is profound. Mozart was made an Entered Apprentice Mason at the Viennese Masonic lodge called Zur Wohltätigkeit (Beneficence) on 14 December 1784. Since then it is said that many of his compositions were gilded with Masonic references, The Magic Flute being the most notable among them. Mozart many of his best-known symphonies, operas, concertos, and portions of the Requieum during his final years in Vienna. Mozart died on December 5, 1791 at the age of 35 and was interred two days later in a common grave at the St. Marx Cemetery outside of Vienna.
