Sir William Saint Clair of Roslyn

Born c. 1283 Initiated 1736 Raised Died 1778 Sir William Saint Clair was the 21st Barron of Rosslyn. A keen sportsman, Saint Clair was an avid archer and golfer. In 1736, Saint Clair was made a Mason at the Lode Canongate Kilwinning, and at the formation of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, was elected to serve as the founding Grand Master. Although under much academic scrutiny, according to the Saint Clair Charters, the Operative Masons of Scotland had honored the Saint Clair Family as the Protector and Patron of the Craft. Brother William Saint Clair of t Roslyn was called from labor in 1778.
