Joseph Rudyard Kipling

Born December 30, 1865 Initiated 1922 Raised Died January 18, 1936 Joseph Rudyard Kipling was born on December 30, 1865 in Bombay, India, and relocated to England to pursue his studies. In 1882 Kipling returned to India and began establishing himself as a gifted poet and author, publishing more than 80 works. Much of his writings were of the English Empire and India's soldiers. In 1907, Kipling received the coveted Nobel Prize for Literature. On April 5, 1886 Kipling was initiated at Hope and Perseverance Lodge No. 782 in Lahore, India. In 1922, Kipling became a founding member of The Builders of the Silent Cities Lodge No. 12 in St. Omer, France. Kipling was also an honorary member of Motherland Lodge No. 3861, and Author's Lodge No. 3456. Brother Kipling was called from labor on January 18, 1936.
